Sarah Palin - Barracuda has Heart Problems
It seems the use of the song "Barracuda" that has been used by the Republican Campaign has pissed off the song's writers' Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart. On Thursday afternoon, the band, Heart, emailed out a statement regarding vice-presidential candidate Sarah "Barracuda" Palin's use of their song at the Republican National Convention.
Following Republican Vice Presidential Nominee Sarah Palin’s introduction to the world, some have taken to calling her Sarah "Barracuda" Palin, which apparently presented an opportunity that the McCain/Palin Campaign could not pass up. Palin's nickname in high school was "Sarah Barracuda" which seems an odd nickname for someone who won the "Miss Congeniality" award.
The statement read, "The Republican campaign did not ask for permission to use the song, nor would they have been granted that permission, we have asked the Republican campaign publicly not to use our music. We hope our wishes will be honored."
But after McCain finished his speech accepting the GOP's presidential nomination and Palin joined him on stage, the song was used yet again. Heart's "Barracuda" played as balloons fell in the auditorium. Because of this, Heart's Nancy Wilson felt compelled to personally respond. "I think it's completely unfair to be so misrepresented," she said in a phone call to Entertainment Weekly after the speech. "I feel completely fucked over." She and sister Ann Wilson then emailed the following exclusive statement.
"Sarah Palin's views and values in NO WAY represent us as American women. We ask that our song 'Barracuda' no longer be used to promote her image. The song 'Barracuda' was written in the late 70s as a scathing rant against the soulless, corporate nature of the music business, particularly for women. (The 'barracuda' represented the business.) While Heart did not and would not authorize the use of their song at the RNC, there's irony in Republican strategists' choice to make use of it there."
It seems there is at least two Heart's that Sarah Palin has not won over.
**In a very funny ironic twist it seems that Sarah Palin may have won a beauty pageant but did NOT win the title "Miss Congeniality"...unless her name was Amy Gwin, who has come out and said that she can't imagine why Ms Palin would lie about something so trivial as winning a title she didn't in a backwater town. Hmmm, wonder what else she may be fibbing about?
