Well the last post was a disappointment. It only made me realise that people post because they want me to post on their blogs! Give a little people...
My friends car broke down yesterday. I was in it. Another friend (yes, I have many) asked if it was serious, or if I had laughed. I replied "It was serious, I laughed." We sat by the curb-side in Bondi waiting for the NRMA guy to come. Luckily we had a small tape player (since her car doesn't have any CD player/radio/steering wheel), and we started to listen to some of the trashy 80's tapes in her car. Johnny Hates Jazz? I hate Johnny!
Anyway, I remembered I had, in my last life a very, very long time ago made a promise to find some 80's songs etc etc and care and share. I love the 80's. It was only then that Tina Turner could get away with a duet with David Bowie.
Anyway (I say that quite a bit, don't I), I give you the 80's:

Who said that threatening isn't attractive. And what is with the cow? Dear Lord, save us from this tacky madness. At least the song is incredible.

Not my favourite 80's movie, nor my favourite Hughes movie. Ferris Bueller and The Breakfast Club was better. However, the soundtrack is the best thing to ever come out of Hollywood. The title song is also extremly good. And I've heard Molly Ringwald is now a balding fat girl.

I've come to the conclusion that these people weren't very inventive with their albums and songs. Always titled the same. Even better, Talk Talk is one of the very few bands who have hit all three. They are Talk Talk, their album was Talk Talk, and a song off the very same album was Talk Talk. Now complete with No Doubt cover, which did the song justice.

At least it isn't the Celine Dion version, that's all I can say. The video takes a while to actually start though, which annoys me greatly.[I]

[I]Finally some good Australian music. Only took a hundred or so years. But here we have it, INXS. It took me a while to get into INXS for some reason, and there is no way I'll ever like the new 'version'

Of course there is much missing, like Simple Minds for example, Guns N Roses, and the list goes on like Mel & Kochie (Die! Die! Die!)

Cold Chisel ... (you might like Saturday Night off their 20th Century album ... it came out the same week as INXSs 'The Swing' ... and a few of Don Walker's compositions ... ) ...
And James Reyne's 'Reckless' [single] ... Not sure you'll like much of his music from his Aussie Crawl days though ... but worth a look) ...
And do you consider the Bee-Gees British or something ... ? ... They're local boys from my home town ... Their early songs ... like 'I started a joke that that started the whole world cryng .... etc ... ?
There's shitloads of good music from OZ ... (but heaps of shit as well ...

Now, looking at that picture, I think that history has proved me correct.
I was a tad bit young in the 80's. The only thing I listened to was Olivia Newton-John's greatest Hits 2 album (looking back, I can't believe my parents let me LISTEN to that!! Let's get physical? I don't care WHAT the video implies, she ain't talking about the stairmaster!) a Strawberry shortcake record, and Michael Jackson's thriller.
I do remember trying to stay up late to catch Saturday night videos though. I remember Duran Duran, and Aha!
David, I know what you mean. I for one follow up my posters blogs just to see whats there and post on those of interest. For example Helvis has an excellent blog that I only found since he posted here. But yes, commenting for a return comment in just silly.
I can't stand Midnight Oil for one. On the other hand, Australian Crawl is excellent, as is Nick Cave. Nothing of recent note though, which is a shame.
Cibbuano, you are vindicated by the fact that Molly is no longer famous, but bloated like a crazed Kirsty Alley. But Breakfast Club was very good.
Sandi, my condolensece for Olivia. How awful for you? I hope the councilling isn't too expensive. A-Ha is another matter however. Take ON ME!
